Brazilian Lemonade is a refreshing, creamy lime drink that’s popular for its unique combination of tart limes, sweetened condensed milk, and chilled water. This quick and easy summer beverage packs a zesty citrus punch with smooth, sweet undertones, perfect for cooling off on a hot day or wowing guests at any gathering.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups cold water (preferably filtered or purified)
  • 5 limes (cut into wedges, whole with skin)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (or more to taste)

For Serving

  • Ice (as needed)
  • Fresh lime slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Blend the Limes: Add cold water, lime wedges, and granulated sugar to a blender. Blend the mixture until smooth and the lime wedges are thoroughly broken down.
  2. Strain the Mixture: Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl. Pour the blended mixture through the strainer, catching the liquid in the bowl below. Use a spoon to press and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the remaining pulp and lime pieces from the strainer.
  3. Blend with Sweetened Condensed Milk: Rinse the blender to remove lime residue. Pour the strained lime juice mixture back into the blender, add the sweetened condensed milk, and blend again until the mixture is frothy and fully combined.
  4. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the Brazilian lemonade over the ice and garnish with fresh lime slices if desired. Serve immediately while cold and frothy.

Notes

  • Cold Water: For the best taste, use bottled, filtered, or purified water; tap water can affect the flavor.
  • Lime Preparation: Blend the limes whole (including skin) to extract vibrant flavor. Don’t juice ahead—blend wedges as directed and strain well to avoid bitterness.
  • Sweetness Level: Adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk to taste for a richer or lighter drink.
  • Best Fresh: Brazilian lemonade tastes best freshly made, as the citrus can turn bitter if left to sit for too long.
  • Chilling: Serve over plenty of ice for maximum refreshment.
