Burger bowls are a fresh and fun twist on the classic burger, featuring seasoned beef, crispy potato fries, and your favorite burger toppings all served in a bowl. They’re quick, delicious, and easily customizable for any diet. Perfect for busy weeknights or when you’re craving a lighter take on burgers!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Spice Mix

  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For the Bowls

  • 23 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 500 grams lean beef mince
  • Lettuce, shredded
  • Cheese, dairy-free or regular (to taste)
  • Pickle slices (to taste)

Burger Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (dijon or yellow)
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Mix: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and cut the potatoes into chips. Pat them dry with paper towels. Place the chips in a large mixing bowl, toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and sprinkle in half of the spice mix. Stir to coat evenly.
  3. Cook the Potatoes: Arrange the potato chips on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30–40 minutes, or cook in an air fryer for about 20 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  4. Cook the Beef: While the potatoes cook, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the beef mince, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. When browned, add the remaining spice mix. Continue cooking until the meat is well browned and excess moisture has evaporated.
  5. Make the Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Stir, taste, and adjust seasonings to your liking.
  6. Assemble the Bowls: When the potatoes are ready, divide them among serving bowls. Add a layer of shredded lettuce, then spoon over the cooked beef. Sprinkle with cheese and add pickle slices. Drizzle with your homemade burger sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Feel free to swap the beef mince for ground turkey, chicken, or a plant-based alternative for a lighter or vegetarian version.
  • Customize your toppings with sliced tomatoes, sautéed onions, or jalapeños.
  • Use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes for a different flavor and extra nutrients.
  • The burger sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
