Ingredients

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup butterscotch chips

½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.

  3. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.

  4. Fold in the butterscotch chips and, if desired, the chopped nuts.

  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared dish and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
