Ingredients

For the Casserole:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup beef broth

For Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat & Prepare

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Cook the Beef

  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef & onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is soft.
  • Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

3. Assemble the Casserole

  • Layer half of the chopped cabbage in the baking dish.
  • Spread beef mixture evenly over the cabbage.
  • Sprinkle cooked rice on top.
  • Pour diced tomatoes (with juice) over the mixture.
  • Add the remaining cabbage on top.
  • Gently pour beef broth over the dish for added moisture.

4. Bake

  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

5. Add Cheese & Finish Baking

  • Remove foil.
  • Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly & golden brown.

6. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Let cool slightly before serving.
