Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 ½ cups beef broth
- 2 cups uncooked pasta (penne, rotini, or elbow)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Cook the Ground Beef:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Drain excess grease if needed.
2. Sauté the Aromatics:
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
3. Season the Mixture:
- Sprinkle in salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Stir to combine.
4. Add the Sauce & Pasta:
- Pour in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Stir well.
- Add the uncooked pasta, ensuring it is fully submerged in the liquid.
5. Simmer Until Tender:
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
6. Make it Cheesy:
- Once pasta is cooked, stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
7. Top with More Cheese & Melt:
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
8. Garnish & Serve:
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.
