Ingredients
For the Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened
3 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup orange juice
For the Cheesecake Filling:
1 cup cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Ganache:
1/2 cup dark chocolate, melted
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
In another bowl, whisk together the softened butter, eggs, milk, and orange juice until smooth.
-
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
-
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to make the cheesecake filling.
-
Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of cheesecake filling on top of one cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top.
-
Drizzle the melted dark chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides.
-
Slice and serve, or refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
-
Add orange zest to the cake batter or cheesecake filling for an extra burst of citrus flavor.
-
For added texture, mix in mini chocolate chips to the cake batter.
-
Instead of ganache, drizzle an orange glaze over the cake for a lighter finish.
-
Decorate with candied orange slices or fresh berries for an elegant touch.
-
For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend instead of all-purpose flour.
