- 3 lbs chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons salt, plus more to serve
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup vegetable or canola oil, for frying
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Coatings
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, salt, and garlic powder.
- Pour buttermilk into a separate bowl.
- Place panko breadcrumbs on a plate.
2️⃣ Coat the Chicken
- Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coat.
- Dip the floured chicken into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off.
- Roll the chicken in panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Transfer coated pieces to a platter.
3️⃣ Fry the Chicken
- Heat 1 inch of oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the chicken in small batches, ensuring space between pieces.
- Cook, turning as needed, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
4️⃣ Serve
- While warm, lightly sprinkle the chicken with additional salt if desired.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
