Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Optional Toppings: herbs, seeds, shredded cheese
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. - Add Wet Ingredients:
Gradually add warm water and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms. - Knead the Dough:
On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. - Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Shape and Prepare:
Shape the risen dough into a loaf. Grease the slow cooker and place the dough inside. - Cook the Bread:
Cover and cook on high for 2–3 hours. The bread is done when the crust is golden and it sounds hollow when tapped. - Cool and Serve:
Remove the bread and let it cool on a wire rack. Slice and serve once cooled.
Notes
- Make it Your Own: Add herbs or seeds for flavor, or try whole wheat flour for a hearty loaf.
- For a crispier crust, place the cooked bread under the broiler for 1–2 minutes.
- Ensure water temperature is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast effectively.
