Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
1 small onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-
4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
Instructions
-
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Remove any excess grease.
-
Add butter, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
-
Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux (thickening paste).
-
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
-
Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens to your liking.
-
Serve the beef gravy warm over prepared mashed potatoes.
Notes
-
Add Veggies: Add peas, carrots, or green beans to the gravy for extra flavor and texture.
-
Spicy Version: Add cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the gravy for a spicy kick.
-
Cheesy Mashed Potatoes: Mix shredded cheese like cheddar or parmesan into the mashed potatoes for a richer, creamier dish.
