Ingredients
Puff Pastry
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
Sugar & Spice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Egg Wash
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat Oven – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin or line with muffin papers to ensure easy removal.
- Prepare Puff Pastry – Place thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll each sheet until it’s slightly thinner—about 1/8 inch thick.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar – In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Cut & Stack Pastry – Cut each pastry sheet into 4×6-inch rectangles. For maximum flakiness, stack two rectangles together to make a total of 6 stacks.
- Brush with Butter & Add Flavor – Brush the top of each stack with melted butter. Sprinkle a generous amount of cinnamon sugar over each piece, ensuring even coverage.
- Form & Place in Muffin Tin – Roll up each stack into a spiral or log, then stand them upright and set them into each muffin cup.
- Egg Wash – Beat the egg and milk together. Brush the tops of each cruffin with the egg wash for a shiny, golden finish.
- Bake – Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cruffins are puffed and deep golden brown on top.
- Coat with Extra Cinnamon Sugar (Optional) – Once cooled slightly, brush lightly with more melted butter and roll in additional cinnamon sugar if desired for an extra-sweet finish.
Notes
- Thaw puff pastry completely for easy handling.
- Don’t overfill with cinnamon sugar to prevent spilling during baking.
- Best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
- For extra flair, fill with chocolate or dulce de leche after baking.
