Ingredients
For the Fries
- 1 lb frozen thick-cut French fries
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
For Topping
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
For Serving
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) so it’s hot and ready for crispy fries. A properly heated oven ensures even cooking and ultimate crunch.
- Season the Fries: Spread the frozen fries out on a large baking sheet in a single layer for maximum crispiness. Drizzle the olive oil over the fries and sprinkle with Cajun seasoning, then toss them gently to coat every fry evenly in oil and spices.
- Bake the Fries: Place the seasoned fries in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, tossing them halfway through the baking time so they brown evenly on all sides. Bake until golden and crispy.
- Add Cheese: Remove the fries from the oven, immediately sprinkle them with shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes. This melts the cheese perfectly over the hot fries.
- Top and Finish: Take the fries out once the cheese is bubbly and melted. Drizzle with hot sauce to your liking and scatter chopped green onions over the top for freshness and crunch.
- Garnish and Serve: Serve the Louisiana Voodoo Fries right away while they’re hot and crispy, with cool sour cream on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Customize the heat by using more or less hot sauce, or selecting a variety with your preferred spice level.
- Try pepper jack or Monterey jack cheese for a twist on flavor and extra meltiness.
- To make it vegetarian, ensure the cheese and sour cream you use are vegetarian-friendly.
- Serve immediately for the best texture, as fries will soften as they sit.
