A savory and flavorful noodle dish featuring tender ground beef in a sweet and salty Mongolian sauce. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner that’s quick, easy, and packed with bold flavors!

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz noodles (spaghetti or rice noodles work well)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles:
Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.

  3. Add Garlic and Ginger:
Once the beef is cooked through, add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and water. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, and add it to the sauce mixture.

  5. Combine Sauce and Beef:
Pour the sauce over the beef mixture and stir to coat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.

  6. Add Noodles:
Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to combine, ensuring the noodles are evenly coated in the sauce.

  7. Garnish and Serve:
Remove from heat and sprinkle with red pepper flakes (if using), chopped green onions, and sesame seeds. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Spicy: Add more red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha for extra heat.
  • Vegetarian: Swap the ground beef with tofu or mushrooms for a plant-based version.
  • Noodles: Try using soba or udon noodles for a unique twist.
