Quick to prepare in just 30 minutes, this one-pot dish is ideal for busy weeknights. With its rich flavors and simple ingredients, it’s a timeless classic that will satisfy the whole family every time!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups elbow macaroni

½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.

  • Add the Sauce and Seasoning: Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  • Cook the Elbow Macaroni: While the sauce is simmering, cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain the pasta and stir it into the meat sauce.

  • Optional: Add Cheese: If using, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the goulash and cover the skillet until the cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes.

  • Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Variations: Add bell peppers, peas, or corn for extra veggies. For spice, sprinkle red pepper flakes or add hot sauce. Swap cheddar cheese for mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a different cheesy flavor.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave. You can also freeze for up to 3 months.
