Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 hamburger buns
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Caramelize the Onions & Peppers: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, season with salt and pepper, and cook until soft and caramelized (8-10 minutes). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Patties: In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in the same skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- Melt the Cheese: In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a mix of mozzarella and provolone. Cover the skillet with a lid to help melt the cheese.
- Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the hamburger buns for extra texture and flavor.
- Assemble the Burgers: Place the cooked patties on the toasted buns and top with caramelized onions and bell peppers.
- Serve & Enjoy!
Notes
- Spicy Option: Add jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
- Cheese Variations: Use American cheese, cheddar, or Swiss instead.
- Grilled Version: Cook the patties on a grill for a smoky char.
- Keto-Friendly: Skip the bun and serve in lettuce wraps.
- Mushroom Lover’s Twist: Add sautéed mushrooms for extra umami flavor.
