Ingredients
Fruit
- 4 cups fresh pineapple chunks
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries
Liquid & Sweeteners
- 2 1/2 cups water, divided
- 2 tablespoons agave nectar
Citrus
- Juice of 1 lime (about 2–3 tablespoons)
Instructions
- Blend the Fruit & Sweeteners: In a blender, add the fresh pineapple chunks, strawberries, 1 cup of water, agave nectar, and the lime juice. Blend until the mixture is fully pureed and no large fruit chunks remain. Pause and scrape down the sides if needed to ensure an even blend.
- Strain the Juice: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher or bowl. Use the back of a spoon or a spatula to gently press and extract as much juice as possible, leaving the pulp behind for a smoother drink.
- Add Water and Mix: Stir in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of water into the pitcher with the strained juice. Mix well to combine and chill in the refrigerator, or serve over ice for immediate refreshment.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness: Taste and add more agave nectar if your fruits aren’t sweet enough.
- Sparkling twist: For a fizzy version, replace part of the water with sparkling water just before serving.
- Make ahead: Agua fresca can be made up to 24 hours in advance—just give it a good stir before serving as natural separation may occur.
- Strain for smoothness: Straining is optional but recommended for a silky texture.
