The rich, tender steaks paired with onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder make this dish a perfect choice for cozy dinners. It’s an easy, one-pan recipe that pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables, making it a family favorite for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

4 beef cube steaks

2 tbsp olive oil

1/2 cup flour

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cups beef broth

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Season the cube steaks with salt and pepper, then dredge them in flour, coating both sides.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the cube steaks and brown them on both sides, about 4–5 minutes per side.

  • Add the chopped onions to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.

  • Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir to combine.

  • Lower the heat to medium and let the steak simmer in the gravy for 20–25 minutes, or until the steak is tender and the gravy has thickened.

  • Serve the steaks smothered in the rich gravy with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • For extra flavor and texture, add sliced mushrooms to the gravy.

  • For a spicy twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.

  • Garlic lovers can increase the garlic powder or add minced fresh garlic.

  • Substitute chicken breasts or thighs for a lighter version.

  • Add carrots or bell peppers to the gravy for extra veggies and flavor.
