Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups hot water
For the Cinnamon-Sugar Topping:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine milk, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, stirring until well combined.
- Spoon the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking pan.
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour the hot water over the batter—do not stir. It will create a rich sauce beneath the cobbler as it bakes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
- Mix the cinnamon and granulated sugar for the topping, then sprinkle it evenly over the cobbler while it’s still warm.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Optional: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
Notes
- Add Nuts: Stir in chopped pecans or walnuts for added texture.
- Spice it up: Try adding a pinch of ground nutmeg or cloves for extra warmth.
- Vegan Option: Use non-dairy butter, plant-based milk, and a flax egg for a vegan version.
