1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in warm milk. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until frothy.

  2. Add flour, salt, melted butter, egg, and the remaining sugar to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Form and Fry Donuts: 3. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts. Let rise for 30 minutes. 4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Make the Filling: 5. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the strawberry jam.
