Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings)
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Optional: bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives, or jalapeños
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or oil.
- Cook the ground beef or sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add diced onion and garlic, cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Pour in the pizza sauce, add Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Spread the meat and sauce mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Add pepperoni and optional toppings. Layer frozen tater tots on top, then sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can customize the toppings to make it your own, such as adding bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives, or jalapeños.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To make it vegetarian, swap out the ground beef for plant-based meat and use veggie toppings.
